Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association in partnership with Latina Style Business Series is honored to announce that Atlanta’s Mayor Kasim Reed will deliver keynote remarks at its 6th Annual Emerging Technology Leadership Summit Luncheon, to be held at the Georgia Tech Research Center in Atlanta Georgia, on Thursday, May 24th 2012. Starting at 7:30 AM with Luncheon at 12:00 Noon and Reed’s remarks beginning at 1:15 p.m.
Reed’s presence starts off a diverse conversation with a distinguished roster of speakers and presenters that includes diversity and inclusion leaders, captains of industry, Hispanic technology thought leaders and opinion makers. The two-day summit will gather over 300 human resources, diversity and inclusion, tech professionals government officials and business men and women from across the nation who seek answers to the growing question: Where are all the tech jobs at Fortune 500 corporations?

Mayor Kasim Reed is a native son of Atlanta’s Southside, Reed came from a family of four boys, all seeking different career paths and possessing different talents. But his father always wanted one of his sons to pursue law as a career and lead the city as mayor, and Reed was able to realize that dream. The 59th Mayor of Atlanta, Reed previously represented the 35th District of the Georgia State Senate. A member of the Georgia House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002. After serving as campaign manager for Shirley Franklin’s successful 2001 Atlanta Mayoral campaign, he decided to run for the position in 2009. He was one of two candidates to advance and on December 1, 2009 he won the election and was officially inaugurated as Mayor of Atlanta on January 4, 2010.
Rest assured, Mayor Reed’s wants for Atlanta continues to grow even through tough times and for that he was recognized by The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies in Washington, DC, who presented him with its highest honor, the Louis E. Martin Great American Award, for his innovative and effective leadership in guiding his city through difficult economic challenges in the wake of the recent recession.
