Muralist Yehimi Cambron to Appear at The Norcross Community Market
On Saturday, August 10, the Norcross Public Arts Commission (NPAC) will host famed Atlanta artist and muralist, Yehimi Cambron. Ms. Cambron will be doing “demonstration art” for both children and adults at the Norcross Community Market at Lillian Webb Park, which is a project of the Sustainable Norcross Commission and the city of Norcross every Saturday from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM during the summer months.
Ms. Cambron has a fascinating story all her own. She uses her murals to tell the stories of immigrants in a most positive way. Ms. Cambron’s work has been featured in highly visible public spaces such as the Georgia State MARTA Station and on the back side of Atlanta’s American Hotel. She is most well known for her “Education is Liberation” monarch mural, which appeared on the Latin American Association building on Buford Highway. She has been working on a mural at Plaza Fiesta and is also completing a mural in Decatur in honor of immigrant mothers.
Recently, the High Museum of Art selected her as one of six artists to be featured in an exhibition of Atlanta artists that will examine the complexities of mixed-status families (ie. undocumented immigrants, DACA recipients, U.S. Citizens).
Ms. Cambron will be painting a mural on a “temporary wall” as part of a campaign by NPAC to bring art to the people of Norcross. Additionally, Ms. Cambron will have a booth where she will be offering T-shirts, stickers, iron-on patches, prints and coffee mugs for sale.

La muralista Yehimi Cambron aparecerá en El mercado comunitario de Norcross (The Norcross Community Market)
El sábado 10 de agosto, la Comisión de Artes Públicas de Norcross (NPAC) recibirá a la famosa artista y muralista de Atlanta, Yehimi Cambron. La Srita. Cambron estará haciendo “una demostración de arte” para niños y adultos en el Mercado Comunitario de Norcross ubicado en Lillian Webb Park. Este es un proyecto que la Comisión de Desarrollo Sostenible de Norcross y la ciudad de Norcross ofrece a la comunidad todos los sábados de 9:00 A.M. a 1:00 P.M., durante el verano.
La Srita. Cambron tiene una historia fascinante propia. Ella usa sus murales para contar las historias de los inmigrantes en una manera más positiva. El trabajo de la Srita. Cambron se ha presentado en espacios públicos muy visibles, tales como la estación MARTA del Estado de Georgia y en la parte trasera del The American Hotel Atlanta. Ella es más conocida por su mural monarca “La educación es la liberación”, que apareció en el edificio de la Asociación Latinoamericana en Buford Highway. Ella ha estado trabajando en un mural en Plaza Fiesta y también está completando un mural en Decatur en honor a las madres inmigrantes.
