Position Description


Position Summary/Mission: The position is to be a senior engineer advisor for a Fortune 75 Infrastructure F5 Application and Security load balancing team. The position would design/engineer, implement and provide engineering support for the F5 application load balancing and associated F5 security components. The F5 technology is becoming increasingly important at Aetna and expanding in it’s use. Aetna will be leveraging the F5′s capabilities in a greater and more diverse way, than is currently the case.
Fundamental Components/Job Description: - The position works closely with other engineering infrastructure and application development areas to configure and secure the complex F5 infrastructure and to design the F5 application security manager (ASM) to secure against web/application layer attacks, such as SQL injections, cross site scripting, etc. – The position requires creation of F5 iRules and understanding impacts of these rules and configuration – Job would involve evolving automation of the F5 request process with the goal of greater Private Cloud self service for our customers to reduce time to market. – Position entails working closely with vendor and reseller on training, pricing negotiations, receiving patches, testing new code releases, etc – Position requires testing of code, configuration, stress testing, protecting against denial of service attacks, security patch management, handling F5 change requests, etc. – Team provides 24X7 Level 3 support to address problems/issues – Additionally, other network security modules of the F5 are currently under evaluation – firewall and policy manage modules
Background/Experience desired: - Minimum 5-7 years in the infrastructure application load balancing field – Extensive F5 product experience – General network and TCP/IP experience – Experience working in large, complex enterprise – Basic programming or scripting experience a plus – Four year college degree required with related degree – engineering, computer science, etc
