Time Warner to Cut 155 Positions in Albany.

Time Warner Cable is cutting 155 jobs in Albany and the closure of the Sealed Air Corporation plant in Glenville will eliminate 70 jobs in the region. Sealed Air says it is relocating the work to other North American facilities.

According to notices filed with the state Department of Labor, the Time Warner jobs are being cut in the company’s outbound sales department on May 10 and the Sealed Air Corp. facility in the Glenville Business and Technology Park will be closed completely on May 20, with layoffs beginning 10 days earlier.

“Sealed Air has been working to optimize our manufacturing operations in order to drive improved productivity and efficiency. The Scotia facility has been part of the company’s global strategic review,” said Ken Aurichio, Sealed Air director of corporate communications.

“This was an extremely difficult decision for Sealed Air to make, understanding the impact to our employees and the Scotia community,” he said. “The company considered a number of criteria –- including operating costs, strategic location, proximity to other facilities and levels of technology –- and it was determined we can best serve our global manufacturing strategy from other locations.”

According to the company’s website, Sealed Air has 26,000 employees with operations in 69 countries and net sales of $7.6 billion.
